While serving as workshop manager for Lismore Toy Repairs in 1987-88, Ford managed an initiative to repair broken toys at over 50 preschools in the region. The business continued successfully beyond its initial 6-month funding period to 18 months. The project transitioned to toy production, providing affordable toys to underfunded preschools. Notably, Ken designed and crafted jig-saw puzzles during his tenure. These puzzles depicted scenes and events from the region. 1998
